Writers on Writing – Great Writing Tips

Like I had written in a previous post, I love collecting quotes – especially those which are by writers, or on writing. Here are some words of wisdom from my collection – great writing tips for new writers:

 *  “Vigorous writing is concise.” – William Strunk Jr.

 *  “Don’t tell me the moon is shining; show me the glint of light on broken glass.” – Anton Checov

“Quantity produces quality. If you only write a few things, you’re doomed.” – Ray Bradbury

 *  “Find out what your hero or heroine wants, and when he or she wakes up in the morning, just follow him or her all day.” – Ray Bradbury

 *  “No, it’s not a very good story – its author was too busy listening to other voices to listen as closely as he should have to the one coming from inside.” – Stephen King

 *  “The secret of popular writing is never to put more on a given page than the common reader can lap off it with no strain whatsoever on his habitually slack attention.” – Ezra Pound

“And by the way, everything in life is writable about if you have the outgoing guts to do it, and the imagination to improvise.  The worst enemy to creativity is self-doubt.” – Sylvia Plath

 And one of my favorites:

 *  “Proofread carefully to see if you any words out.” – Author Unknown
